We were tailgating in the parking lot before the Pittsburgh game and the Redskins Marching band came by and I got it on video. Troy and Pete were able to join us - and we had a great time even though Pete is a Steeler's fan. Just wish the game would have been better from the Redskin's point of view.
So, Bubba and I left our land of icyness and headed south this weekend to go to the Virginia Tech at NC State basketball game. Troy and his son Brandon went with us this time. We could not have asked for a better performance from the Wolfpack. Let's hope for a good showing Wednesday night against Carolina.

UNC at NC State
So Bubba and I went down to Raleigh last weekend to see the UNC v NCSU basketball game. We went with Susan and Troy. We could not have asked for a better game. The RBC center was electric - and the final outcome? Well NC State won 83-79 - of course, I knew it all along - no doubts here.
Here are a few pictures from the weekend. It was really cool watching the students take the court after the game. Pretty wild.

NCSU at Wake Forest
The other week, Roy and I went down to Winston-Salem to see the NC State vs Wake Forest game with our Dad. It was a great game if you are an NC State fan - not so much if you like Wake Forest. State ended up winning by 14, but it wasn't even that close. Its going to be a long season for both of these very young teams. It was fun to see State play and especially win. Now, if I have a similar report next week after the UNC game that we are attending, I will be really happy. Here are a few pictures from that day:

College Football Playoff?
So, I know that my NC State Wolfpack will not be going to a bowl this year. However, I was reading an article by Terry Bowden about how a possible end-of-year college football tournament could look - and his scenario makes a lot of sense to me. His formula takes the top 8 teams based on BCS standings. I think it would be a hoot. What do you think? Here's his bracket based on last weeks poll.

Fantastic Football Weekend!!
I can hardly believe that my college team and my pro team both won their games this weekend. The Redskins looked dominate today with Clinton Portis back in the lineup. He really is the best player on that team. Hard to know if he maid that big of a difference or if Houston really is awful - most likely a combination of the two. Next week should give us a real indication if the skins are for real or not.
My NC State Wolfpack played a truly amazing game Saturday. Of course, ESPN's favorite team, Notre Dame, had to upstage Daniel Evans' coming out party. But, even so, this game will be remembered for a long time in Raleigh. I only wish I had been there to see it in person. Here is a highlight reel that I can't quit watching. :)

Monday Night Football - 9/11/2006
So, Bubba and I went to Monday night football on September 11. There were special events since this was the 5th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in DC.
To start with, it was ESPN's first (non-preseason) MNF broadcast. They set their pregame stage up about a hundred yards from where we were tailgating. Of course the crowd had to give Michael Irvin the business. It was fun to see Steve Young, Tom Jackson and Chris Berman.
During the pregame and at halftime, there were poignant tributes to the heros and vistims of 9/11. The flag waving was really neat to see. I have a video that I will post soon as well.
Here are the pics:

Nats v. Rockies
There was a lot of offense in this game and the Nats ended up losing 14-8. But we had a great time nonetheless.
Here are some pictures from the first two Washington Redskin's games. We've been having a great time especially since the skins are 3-0. Last week for the Seatle game Chris and JD joined us for the game including tailgating before the party and Club Macanudo's after the game.
